Weighing just 3.21 ounces and just 0.55 inches thin, the Pearl 8120 manages to fit a QWERTY keyboard onto the handset's slim frame. Each button on the keyboard shares two letters and the unit automatically determines which letter is the intended one based on what it predicts you are trying to spell. This unique predictive text technology, known as SureType, makes the Pearl 8120's diminutive size possible. SureType also learns the words you use most often, further enhancing your typing speed. It sports a large 240 x 260 screen that supports over 65,000 colors--plenty of real estate to view your e-mails, Web browser content, messaging sessions, and attachments. The venerable BlackBerry trackwheel has been replaced on this model with an innovative four-way trackball placed below the screen. On the rear of the handheld, you'll find a 2.0-megapixel camera and a self portrait mirror. The handheld's MicroSD memory card slot is located inside the device, behind the battery. There's also a standard 3.5mm headset jack that can be used with the included headset, as well as a mini-USB port for data connectivity.

The Pearl 8120 features an updated visual interface and integrates a new font rendering technology that displays characters with enhanced legibility at even the smallest point sizes. The BlackBerry Browser is further improved with a new "Page View" option that displays a full web page on the screen along with a magnifying glass that allows the user to quickly and accurately point and zoom in on a specific area of the web page. It also provides quicker access to Bookmarks and History. With BlackBerry push technology, you don't need to retrieve your e-mail. I've purchased my phone from Tiger Direct and it has an annoying problem. When I make a call, on the top right side an 'ABC' icon appears and never goes away! I have to get in to phone book to have it dissapear :) Strange!

I bought 2 Blackberry Pearl 8120 and both of them didn't work!! The blackberry started to turn off and the message "media card removed" was all the time in the screen... So I couldn't use the cell phone. The other one had only a blank white screen and was not even turning on!!! I return the cell phones and lost TIME and MONEY... I am so disappointed! It caused me so many PROBLEMS and I lost a lot of calls. I definitely don't recommend it!!!!

I have gotten this phone about a year and a half ago and ever since I got it I have had problems with it. If you lose the leather pouch that comes with the phone, get another one immediately or kiss the phone good bye. All of the keys will become desensitized and the courser ball will stop scrolling in certain directions. Reception is bad but that may have more to do with my service provider. The spelling suggestions are horrible. The metalized plastic (chrome) wears down quick and will make the phone look really bad fast. This phone has given me one headache after another. I plan to get another phone as soon as I can afford to change carriers.

I've owned Blackberrys for the past 5 years and liked them very much. This 9000 Bold is the first BB I've owned where I've had to replace my phone three times in the past year due to one malfunction or another. I purchased mine at AT&T and fortunately all the replacements came within the one year warranty. Although my mute/standby button is starting to fail once again (ugh). Buying a BB without a warranty I think is foolhardy. If the iPhone ever had a replaceable battery and multitasking like the BB, I'd probably switch. The security issue is not that big a concern on the iPhone. The replaceable battery and the multitasking are big issues for me, so it looks as if I'll stick with BB a while longer and see what transpires with the iPhone 4G when/if it appears. Actually, owning an iTouch and a BB (for those that can) is a pretty good compromise.

I have had blackberries for years and love them. I purchased the Bold about seven months ago and within two months, various parts of the phone started to go - first it was the internal microphone so you couldn't use headphones, then the external went - no ability to hear the phone ring or any tones whatsoever, and no speakerphone, no ability to play music, etc. The phone spontaneously restarts and drops calls multiple times a day - I just get a "call failed" message in the middle of a call. Lately, it also fails to make outbound calls on a regular basis - again, get a "call failed" message and I have to reboot the phone. I know its not my service - I live in the same place as when I had my old blackberry and NEVER had these issues.



It seems like others haven't had this experience so maybe I just got a "lemon" of a phone. I'm going to have to suck it up and buy a new phone (not a Bold) soon since its so bad - if my work email wasn't tied to Blackberry I would consider migrating off Blackberry due to the poor experience this time around!

I got this phone for Christmas and have had no problems with it. It works like a dream! I text message alot and this makes it real easy and fast! It's a definite upgrade from my crappy ( as in it no longer rings or vibrates and takes thirry minutes for me to get a message, if the mesdage comes through at all) Motorola Razor. i have been using this phone for the past 4 months in south africa, and it works perfect on our networks. the gps, graphic and internet capabilities are brilliant to say the least. the only problem is when you are changing the SIM Card, the slot tends to be too tight hence taking out your SIM Card can be a mission otherwise i give it a thumbs up!
