I've owned Blackberrys for the past 5 years and liked them very much. This 9000 Bold is the first BB I've owned where I've had to replace my phone three times in the past year due to one malfunction or another. I purchased mine at AT&T and fortunately all the replacements came within the one year warranty. Although my mute/standby button is starting to fail once again (ugh). Buying a BB without a warranty I think is foolhardy. If the iPhone ever had a replaceable battery and multitasking like the BB, I'd probably switch. The security issue is not that big a concern on the iPhone. The replaceable battery and the multitasking are big issues for me, so it looks as if I'll stick with BB a while longer and see what transpires with the iPhone 4G when/if it appears. Actually, owning an iTouch and a BB (for those that can) is a pretty good compromise.

I have had blackberries for years and love them. I purchased the Bold about seven months ago and within two months, various parts of the phone started to go - first it was the internal microphone so you couldn't use headphones, then the external went - no ability to hear the phone ring or any tones whatsoever, and no speakerphone, no ability to play music, etc. The phone spontaneously restarts and drops calls multiple times a day - I just get a "call failed" message in the middle of a call. Lately, it also fails to make outbound calls on a regular basis - again, get a "call failed" message and I have to reboot the phone. I know its not my service - I live in the same place as when I had my old blackberry and NEVER had these issues.



It seems like others haven't had this experience so maybe I just got a "lemon" of a phone. I'm going to have to suck it up and buy a new phone (not a Bold) soon since its so bad - if my work email wasn't tied to Blackberry I would consider migrating off Blackberry due to the poor experience this time around!

When I placed the order thought that I buy a new telephone! I received a used AT&T phone with AT&T logo on it. The only truth about this phone is that it is open for other sim cards. The phone came in an open and not original box! I wish I could returen it and receive my money back. Amazon should remove this seller from its site. It gives bad name to Amazon.

I got this phone for Christmas and have had no problems with it. It works like a dream! I text message alot and this makes it real easy and fast! It's a definite upgrade from my crappy ( as in it no longer rings or vibrates and takes thirry minutes for me to get a message, if the mesdage comes through at all) Motorola Razor. i have been using this phone for the past 4 months in south africa, and it works perfect on our networks. the gps, graphic and internet capabilities are brilliant to say the least. the only problem is when you are changing the SIM Card, the slot tends to be too tight hence taking out your SIM Card can be a mission otherwise i give it a thumbs up!

Its an retro step in cell phone developement.It reminds me of my old Nokia/Motorola/ TDMA cell in the 90s( just good enough to store contacts and make calls) Never had a Blackberry before so i decided to get one after my nokia 5800 got a virus. There and then my worries began. I t felt like.... steping out of a nissan GTR spec-V after completeing a smooth, quick and effortless 60miles cross country journey with sophisticated handling ability... aand steping into a Kia 5ton truck

Consider my review a warning to you all potential buyer.would recommend this phone to my worst enemy.The phone is very slow when switching functions. You are unable to zoom while in video creating mode,it freezes alot,battery life dips rapidly when using the net,its heavy and bulky,IT IS NOT WIFI EQUIP....definitely not user friendly. Not surprise of the Storm2 comming into existance so soon, see it as a stretegy to save embarasment from that disappointed storm1.

I purchased this as My first Blackberry phone. I upgraded from a Motorola Z6. I Downgraded. This phone is as unfriendly as they can get. The touch screen is the worst feature on this phone. You may think that you can get use to it, but, you cant. It simply is very uncomfortable, and very imprecise. I used a Iphone for 5 days, and the difference if astonishing.



The best feature this phone has is that you get your email on It, besides that, forget about replying with it.



Battery life is just enough to get thru the day with some moderate talking.



Will change this phone for one of the older blackberry phones. I tried the bold, and you could type with that keybord.



RIM should make a callback on this product and reimburse everyone their money.

when i finally decided to switch from key phone to touch i did alot of reasearch i bought the samsung omnia which i hated and then i switched to this phone, which i also now hate. It is extremly slow most of the time and freezes quite often. The only thing you can do when it freezes is what people call a battery pull, meaning you take out and put back in the battery. Doesnt seem like that big of a deal right? well how about the fact that once you restart the device it can take up to 8 mins to restart! The phone has also been shutting off on me constantly.

So if your thinking about getting this phone... DONT there are much better phones out there.
